Volunteer to Work on Our Farm
Volunteering
Here at Angelic Organics, we love having volunteers join us in our daily work of growing and harvesting vegetables! Not only is the work quicker & easier with another set of hands, we really enjoy meeting our shareholders, making new farm friends, and having new people & perspectives jump into the midst. We often find that volunteers have a pretty good time too. Volunteering is a great way to enrich your relationship with your food and farm.
What to Expect
As a farm volunteer you would be thrown right into the daily activities of the crew. Depending on the day and the season, you may be asked to help harvest, weed, transplant, wash vegetables, pack boxes, or partake in other tasks. There is always something to do on the farm. So overall, expect to be put to work! Also, expect to be put to work outside, regardless of the weather. And while working gives you an opportunity to experience the farm first-hand, there will likely not be time to have a farm tour. If a farm tour is something you are interested in, please see our Visit the Farm page for details. While it is encouraged for people to bring their children along for farm tours, we find that it is not the best idea to plan on bringing children if you are volunteering.
What to Wear and Bring
✤Sunscreen
✤Hat for the sun
✤Work gloves
✤A bottle of water
✤Food (If you’re going to be volunteering during one of our meal breaks, usually at 12pm, please be sure to bring your own sack lunch.)
✤A sense of humor and a good attitude
Best Times to Volunteer
The best time to join us for a volunteer experience tends to be Monday through Saturday from early June through Mid-October. While farming is indeed a year round job, we find that it is best to have volunteers join us during the most active part of our growing season. We schedule volunteers to join the crew during normal work hours. While our weekdays usually begin at 6 am and go until 5 pm, volunteers can choose to join us after breakfast break (around 8:50 am) and leave at lunch (1 pm). Wednesday and Saturday schedules only go until 12 pm.
Volunteering one day at a time works best, though we are open to arranging other lengths of volunteer stays. We are currently unable to accommodate volunteers overnight, except in the capacity of camping on site with their own equipment for a day or two.
